| Synonyms: COX-17; Dopuin
Description: Cox17
is the candidate copper metallochaperone for delivery of Cu(I) ions to the
mitochondrion for assembly of cytochrome c oxidase [1, 2]. Binds copper ions and
delivers them to the Cu(A) site of COX [2].
Both
the reduced and oxidized forms of Cox17 were found to promote the survival of
NIH3T3 cells in serum-free medium [3].
May have influence on insulin secretion [4].
