Company profile

Bestenbalt LLC is a biotechnology company that specializes on production and sales of highly pure proteins, peptides, and their derivatives. Bestenbalt offers a unique range of proteins, not available from other sources, at competitive prices.

The products are carefully produced and purified, thoroughly analysed and characterized to achieve the highest possible quality and purity. We are aiming at a "single peak", i.e. we purify our products to homogeneity, which is characterized by only one peak or band in the analyses.

Product overview

Bestenbalt's focus is on highly pure isoforms of metallothioneins. However, the products include also several other metal-binding proteins such as calbindin D9k and COX17. The proteins bind different kinds of metals such as zinc, copper or calcium, and act as natural carriers for metal ions. Some of the proteins may bind other biochemicals, such as acyl-coenzyme A, with high affinity. A recent addition to the products is a His6-derivative of amyloid beta(1-42) protein, which specifically binds nickel, and thus may be used for immobilization to a carrier.

Bestenbalt’s products also include several peptide hormones and hormone-like proteins. The members of this group of products are several classical peptide hormones, such as vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP), cholecystokinin (CCK33, CCK39), and peptide YY. Hormone-like proteins such as diazepam-binding inhibitor (DBI),  PEC-60 and chymodenin also belong to that class of products. The unique feature of several products of this kind is that several of them contain post-translationally modified amino acids. For instance CCK contains a sulfated tyrosine residue and the derivative of PYY contains a phosphorylated serine residue.

The number of high-quality Bestenbalt’s products is growing steadily, and new products are added to the list.
