Synonyms:
CAM-MT-2A; CAM-MT-II
Description: Highly
pure metal-free protein
from rabbit liver [1]
with carboxyamidomethylated cysteines.
Coupling of an acetamide group to Cys residues makes them stable to oxidation,
but also eliminates the metal-binding properties of the protein making it a
suitable reference protein for control experiments.
Species: Rabbit
Amino acid sequence: MDPNCSCAAA
GDSCTCANSC TCKACKCTSC KKSCCSCCPP GCAKCAQGCI CKGASDKCSC CA
Modified amino acids:
All 20 Cys residues are carboxyamidomethylated; Met-1 acetylated.

Purity: >98% by HPLC and mass
spectrometry.
Molecular mass: 7266.38
Form: Lyophilized.
Solubility: Buffer
Storage: Freezer
(-20° C).
Protect from moisture. In solution at neutral pH
and in the presence of oxygen metallothionein is sensitive to oxidation and
solutions should not be stored. Carboxyamidomethylated
metallothionein, however, is relatively stable.
